Today’s job market is extremely competitive. “What have you been doing while you were out of work?” can be a “make or break” question. For some, volunteering is helpful. For others, especially for those wanting to break into a new industry, education can provide you the edge needed to compete effectively. As some of us know, education can be free and not take a long time.

Join us on Feb 16th from 7-9 PM and hear Lori Crose, MPA, explain the “ins & outs” of updating your skills and/or knowledge. Lori will speak on job trends, preparing for the future with certifications and understand the different funding options available.

Lori Crose is currently the Director of Professional Development in the Center for Integrated Business, Research and Education at Oakland University’s School of Business Administration (SBA). In this position she has administrative responsibility for educational programs including credit and non-credit certificates, re-licensure training, certification training and retooling programs at and above the post-bachelorette level.  In addition, she is responsible for developing high quality, new and innovative programming that will align with county, state, and federal employment trends and has been charged with connecting with government and with the business community through CIBRE. She has been with the SBA for 10 years in various positions in the professional development area and has extensive experience in counseling the adult student population.

Lori earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration in 2002 from Oakland University and a Bachelor’s degree from Illinois College in 1981. She is a current member of the Oakland County’s Workforce Development Business Roundtable and serves as Oakland University Representative for Oakland County Emerging Sectors Educational Consortium.
